Treat yourself to a Pre-Marathon Yoga workshop. This workshop is appropriate for runners in general, and especially appropriate for athletes running the New York City Marathon on November 1st. Enjoy relaxing in simple supported poses that require little energy, allowing you to center, focus, and restore your vitality. You will learn to work with a mantra and other tools for concentration during running or any intense situation. You'll gently stretch your chest, back, hips, and legs, and you'll leave feeling both relaxed and focused, ready for whatever your Sunday has to offer. No yoga experience needed. Wear comfortable clothes, warm socks, and bring an eye pillow, if you have one.
Sage Rountree, PhD, a Registered Yoga Teacher and USA Triathlon, USA Cycling, and RRCA certified coach, is Runner's World's yoga expert. Sage teaches yoga for athletes nationwide and will lead two workshops at Kripalu in 2010. Athletes of all sports and levels—from former Olympians to professional triathletes to the UNC football team—praise her practical, straightforward teaching style.
